Urogenital Mycoplasma (Mycoplasma Genitalium)

Mycoplasma genitalium is a type of bacteria that can cause sexually transmitted diseases. These bacteria can also be transmitted by touching an infected area. Infection tends to be limited to the urethra and reproductive system. Infections require treatment for both partners. Ureoplasma urealycitum and mycoplasma hominis are associated with bacterial vaginosis.
Interpretation:
If infection is detected, pain during sexual intercourse are vaginal pain, frequent urination and pain and burning sensation during urination are the symptoms. A urine and vaginal swab test or DNA PCR are suitable testing material.
Sample: First morning urine, semen, cervical, urethral, or vulvovaginal swab or rectal swab.
