TPHA (Treponema palladium Hemaglutination Test)

TPHA test is the fastest test used to detect Sphylis. The main protocol is to investigate Treponeuma Antibodies in blood sample. The bacterium infects by penetrating into the lining of the mouth or the genital area. Sphylis tests include Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR), Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL)all designed to detect antibodies in the blood. All these tests are used to confirm the results of each other. If the test is found to be positive in pregnancy, the bacteria may pass to the unborn baby leaving serious comlplications to the infants.
Interpretation: Sphylis tests are needed if a person has small painless sore on the genitals, rectum or mouth, red rashes on the hands and the bottom of the feet, fever, headache, swollen glands, fatique, weight loss and hair loss. These are questioned together with the information of multiple sex partners, a partner with multiple sex partners, unprotected sex, a HIV infection, another sexually transmitted disease such as gonorrhea. Antibodies take a couple of weeks to develop after a bacterial infection therefore the other tests will support the result. If one of the test results are positive, an antibiotic treatment may overcome the illness.
